SAFCOL: Apprenticeships 2024 / 2025

SAFCOL invites unemployed youth to apply for Apprenticeship Programme 2024 / 2025.

Apprenticeship Application Closing Date: 12 September 2024

Apprenticeship Location: Timbadola Sawmill near Louis Trichardt (Makhado), Limpopo

SAFCOL is offering an apprenticeship opportunity for unemployed youth to develop artisan skills at a recognised Training Centre. The apprenticeship programme will last for three years, with workplace training conducted at the Timbadola Sawmill near Louis Trichardt (Makhado).

Artisan Trades Available

The apprenticeship programme includes training in the following trades:

  • Millwright
  • Fitter & Turner
  • Diesel Mechanic (Motor Trade)
  • Boiler Making
  • Electrical

Programme Benefits

  • Training: Apprentices will be enrolled at a recognised training centre for theoretical and practical learning.
  • Workplace Training: Training will take place at the Timbadola Sawmill.
  • Monthly Stipend: Apprentices will receive a stipend throughout the training period.
  • Preference: Special preference will be given to Previously Disadvantaged Individuals, people with disabilities, females, and youths from communities adjacent to SAFCOL plantations and those with social compacts.

Completion and Certification

Upon successfully completing the occupational knowledge, practical learning, and workplace training, apprentices will be required to undergo a final summative assessment (Trade Test) in accordance with the Skills Development Act to be certified as qualified artisans.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be unemployed and between the ages of 19 to 35.
  • Grade 12 (not a prerequisite but recommended).
  • Must have a minimum of N2 or Level 3 TVET certificate with the relevant trade theory.
