The Sasol Foundation is inviting talented and financially needy South African students to apply for its prestigious Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year.

The Sasol Foundation bursary is open to students pursuing undergraduate degrees in two categories: STEM and Non-STEM fields. Below is a breakdown of the bursaries and important details to guide your application.
Categories of Bursaries
1. STEM Bursaries
These bursaries are aimed at students pursuing undergraduate studies in the following Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields:
- Agricultural Science
- Chemistry
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- Education (with STEM subject majors)
- Engineering (All disciplines)
- Financial Science
- Health Science
- Mathematical Science
- Technology
- Other relevant fields
2. Non-STEM Bursaries
The Non-STEM bursaries are available for students from Sasol’s fence line communities (municipalities/districts around Sasol plants/operations), children of Sasol Khanyisa shareholders, and children of Sasol employees. These bursaries apply to any field of study at a University or University of Technology in South Africa.
What Does the Bursary Cover?
The Sasol Foundation bursary offers extensive financial support, covering:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Book allowance
- Accommodation allowance
- Meal allowance
- A once-off computer and calculator allowance
- A monthly stipend
Additionally, bursary recipients will receive psycho-social support, including workshops, discussions, and access to Sasol’s Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
Selection Criteria
Bursary recipients will be chosen based on the following:
- South African citizenship
- Household income verification
- Academic performance
- Acceptance or conditional acceptance into a public University or University of Technology
- Financial need
Preference will be given to students with exceptional academic records and a household income of less than R600 000 per annum. Applicants must also complete Online Odyssey Psychometric Testing during the selection process. The bursary will be awarded contingent on the candidates’ 2024 end-of-year results remaining consistent with their submitted grades.
Requirements
STEM Bursary:
- South African citizen (by birth)
- Under 25 years old
- Currently in Matric or completed Matric within the past year
- Intend to study towards an undergraduate degree in 2025 in one of the STEM fields
- Achieved a minimum of:
- Level 6 (70%) for Mathematics and Physical Science
- Level 5 (60%) for English
- If already studying, a minimum average of 60% and no failed modules
Non-STEM Bursary:
- South African citizen (by birth)
- Under 25 years old
- Must be from Sasol’s fence line communities or be a child of a Sasol Khanyisa shareholder or Sasol employee
- Currently in Matric or completed Matric within the past year
- Intend to study towards an undergraduate degree in 2025
- Achieved a minimum average of Level 5 (60%) in all subjects
How to Apply
Applications for the Sasol Foundation Bursary Programme must be submitted online through the Sasol Bursaries platform. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

- Complete the application by filling in all required fields.
- Once submitted, you will receive an email confirmation.
- Returning Users:
- Log in using your existing credentials and continue your application.

- Grade 11 final results (if currently in Matric)
- Matric certificate (if completed)
