Nkangala District Municipality Bursaries

Nkangala District Municipality invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2025 academic year.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 31 October 2024

The Nkangala District Municipality is offering bursaries to support students from the region, particularly in the following fields:

  • Architecture
  • Civil Engineering
  • Disaster Management
  • Environmental Management
  • Finance
  • Information Technology Engineering (Robotics/Software Development)
  • Law
  • Mining Engineering
  • Regional/Town Planning
  • Social Sciences

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
  • Residence: Must reside within the Nkangala District Municipality, including:
    • Dr JS Moroka
    • Emakhazeni
    • Emalahleni
    • Steve Tshwete
    • Thembisile Hani
    • Victor Khanye
  • Background: From a historically disadvantaged background.
  • Education: Currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Study Status: Must study or intend to study full-time in one of the specified fields at an accredited South African institution (University, University of Technology, or TVET College).
  • Academic Performance: Minimum overall average of 60% for the 2024 academic year.
  • Financial Need: Proven financial need based on household income.
  • Contractual Agreement: Willing to enter into a contractual agreement with Nkangala Local Municipality.

How to apply

  1. Download the Application Form: Obtain the Nkangala District Municipality Bursary Application Form 2025 (.pdf) or collect it from a local municipality.
  2. Complete the Form: Fill out the application accurately.
  3. Submit Supporting Documents: Include the following (certified copies required):
    • ID Document
    • Grade 11 final results and latest Matric results
    • Matric certificate (if applicable)
    • Most recent academic results (if currently studying)
    • Proof of achievements/merit certificates (if applicable)
    • Parents or guardians’ ID Documents
    • Proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavits, etc.)
    • Proof of address (e.g., utility bill)
    • Motivational letter
