Fields of Study Eligible for the Bursary
The Hillary Construction Bursary is available for students studying in the following fields:
- Civil Engineering
- Quantity Surveying
- Surveying
If you are currently enrolled in one of these fields, this bursary could help you fund your education and gain practical experience through a Learnership.
What Does the Hillary Construction Bursary Cover?
The bursary will provide financial support for the following expenses:
- Registration Fees
- Tuition Fees
- Exam Fees
- Monthly Allowance for accommodation, food, and travel expenses
- Study-related Equipment, subject to request
Learnership Opportunity (Gap Year)
In addition to the bursary, successful applicants will be offered a Learnership in Road Construction for 1 year during their gap year. This valuable opportunity will give you hands-on experience in the construction industry, which will be considered when assessing funding for the following year.
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via phone or email and invited to attend an interview and psychometric testing at the Hillary Construction Head Office in Polokwane. If you do not receive any feedback, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Hillary Construction Bursary Programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- South African Citizen or Permanent Resident: You must be a South African citizen or a permanent resident.
- Matric Completion: You must have completed Matric with an exemption certificate.
- Current Studies: You must be studying towards a National Diploma or Degree in one of the eligible fields (Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Surveying).
- Accredited Institution: You must be enrolled at a recognized and accredited University or University of Technology in South Africa.
- Matric Results:
- University students must have achieved a minimum C symbol for Mathematics and Science in Matric.
- University of Technology students must have achieved a minimum D symbol for Mathematics and Science in Matric.
- Current Academic Performance: You must have achieved a minimum 65% overall average in your current studies.
