What Does the Internship Entail?

As a Procurement Intern at CCBSA, you will undergo a 12-month formal program that will provide you with comprehensive exposure to the Procurement process within the Finance Department. You’ll work directly under the guidance of the Country Category Specialist and be involved in various key activities, gaining practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the procurement field.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

As a Procurement Intern, you will support the Procurement Specialist in a wide range of daily tasks, including:

  • Query Resolution: Assist in resolving procurement-related queries from internal stakeholders.
  • Procurement Administration: Help with the administration of Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Vendor Sourcing: Participate in preferential vendor sourcing, issuing bids, and expediting the bid process.
  • Bid Administration: Assist in verifying and moderating submitted bids and preparing summary reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Contracts Administration: Support the drafting and management of Master Service Agreements (MSA) and contracts, including handling contract extensions, breach notices, and termination letters.
  • SAP/D365 Administration: Work with SAP/D365 platforms to create and maintain contracts, including submitting contract pricing and collaborating with the Genpact Team.
  • Database Management: Help maintain the Transporter Database and update it with new vendors, routes, and rates.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate with distribution, exports, imports, and planning teams to ensure smooth procurement operations.
  • Supplier Engagement: Assist in summarizing minutes from Supplier Relationship Management sessions and logging air and sea freight requests.
  • General Administrative Support: Provide general support in expediting pricing queries, vendor requests, and tracking procurement activities.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: A minimum of a relevant Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Experience: While previous work experience is an advantage, it is not mandatory.
  • Technical Skills: Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of SAP is an added advantage.
  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
