About WEINERT Bursary – Engineering bursaries in 2025

WEINERT Industries is inviting applications for its 2025 academic year bursaries. These bursaries aim to support students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in specialized fields, helping shape the future of engineering and science in South Africa.

Fields of Study

Bursaries are available for studies in:

  • Materials Science
  • Mechatronic Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Physics (with a preference for specialization in photonics)

Eligibility Requirements – Engineering bursaries in 2025

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  1. Citizenship
    • Must be a South African citizen.
  2. Education Level
    • Must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  3. Institution
    • Must be studying or intending to study at one of these universities:
      • University of the Witwatersrand (WITS)
      • Stellenbosch University (SU)
      • Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
      • University of Pretoria (UP)
  4. Academic Requirements
    • Undergraduate Bursary
      • Under 21 years old at the time of application.
      • Minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics.
      • Minimum overall average of 70% in preliminary Matric results (excluding Life Orientation).
    • Masters Bursary
      • Under 26 years old at the time of application.
      • Completed BSc Honours in a related field with a minimum weighted average of 65%.
    • PhD Bursary
      • Under 30 years old at the time of application.
      • Completed a Research Master’s degree in a related field.
      • Must have identified and approached an academic supervisor before applying.

Financial Benefits

The bursary covers tuition and required academic materials. Payments are made directly to the institution. However, funding does not extend to repeated courses or years.
