The Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) is offering 6 part-time internships for aspiring Business Intelligence Interns in Gauteng. Purpose of the Role:
The Business Intelligence Interns will assist in the design, development, and implementation of BI solutions. The role involves supporting business stakeholders and BI specialists to gather requirements, develop data models, and create visualizations that provide actionable insights for the organization. This is an excellent chance to develop your skills in Power BI, SQL, and data modeling while ensuring that AGSA’s decisions are informed by accurate, timely, and meaningful data.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Business Intelligence Intern, your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Function:
- Participate in the implementation of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) initiatives within the business unit (BU).
Product Management:
- Collaborate with business users to understand their data and reporting needs.
- Document business requirements for BI solutions and assist in designing data models that support reporting and analytics.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data in BI models.
- Assist with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to pull data from various sources into the data warehouse.
- Help monitor and optimize ETL performance.
- Develop visually appealing and interactive reports and dashboards using BI tools like Power BI.
- Work closely with BI developers to customize and improve existing reports to meet evolving business needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring optimal database performance.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build professional relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful learning and working processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data solutions with organizational goals.
- Liaise with Data Owners and Stewards to ensure timely delivery of work.
People Management:
- Take responsibility for your personal development and performance according to the competency and training plan.
- Participate in training initiatives, mentoring, and on-the-job training from Team Leaders.
- Contribute to AGSA’s transformation, diversity, and equity initiatives.
Financial Management:
- Ensure compliance with AGSA policies and budget processes.
- Manage productivity to meet project and budget requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with additional tasks or projects as delegated by the Senior Manager.
Skills, Experience & Education:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
Experience:
- No prior experience is required for this position, making it perfect for recent graduates. However, exposure to the following areas would be an added advantage:
- Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization platforms.
- Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.
- Proficiency in SQL or similar query languages to extract and manipulate data.
Certifications (Optional but Advantageous):
- Data Analyst Associate (Power BI) certification.
- Azure Data Fundamentals certification.
