Newcastle Municipality 2025 Bursaries

Bursary application closing date is 24 January 2025.

The Newcastle Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal is offering bursaries for students who are residents within the Newcastle Municipality area. Bursaries are available for students in any field of study, with a special emphasis on scarce skills.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the Newcastle Municipality Bursary, you must meet the following requirements:

• South African citizen.
• Permanent resident within the Newcastle Municipality (KwaZulu-Natal).
• Aged between 14 and 35 years.
• Matriculated (must have completed Matric).
• Accepted to study at an accredited higher education institution in South Africa for your 1st year of full-time undergraduate studies in 2025.
• Not receiving NSFAS funding.
• No outstanding tertiary fees.

How to Apply:

1. Collect Application Forms:
   • Application forms can be obtained from:
     • Newcastle Municipality Building, Office F28.
     • All Municipal Libraries (open between 17:30 and 16:00).
2. Submit the Following Supporting Documentation: Ensure all documents are certified copies, or your application will be disqualified:
   • Certified copy of your ID document.
   • Certified copy of your Matric certificate or statement of results.
   • Proof of acceptance to study at a tertiary institution (on official institution letterhead).
   • Certified copies of your parents’ or guardians’ ID documents.
   • Proof of household income:
     • Latest payslips (if employed),
     • Affidavit (if unemployed),
     • Bank statements or company documents (if self-employed),
     • Proof of grant or pension (if applicable),
     • Death certificate (if a parent or guardian is deceased).
   • Proof of residence (from your Ward Councillor).
   • Quote of fees from your institution (on official institution letterhead).
   • Motivational letter explaining why you should be awarded the bursary and your future plans.
3. Delivery of Applications:
   • Applications must be delivered to:
     Newcastle Municipality
     37 Scott Street
     Old Building, Youth Office (F28)
     Reception/Security Desk, Town Hall entrance.
   • Important: Applications via email or fax will NOT be accepted.

Closing Date:

• The closing date for applications is 24 January 2025.
• Ensure you submit your application before this date to be considered.
