Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- N3 (essential for trade test application)
- Additional Qualifications:
- Driver’s license (beneficial)
- Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of process plant operations and maintenance importance
- Mechanical experience and proficiency with hand and power tools (beneficial)
- Ability to obtain health clearance for work in a chemical environment (required)
Responsibilities
- Apprenticeship Duties:
- Acquire skills and knowledge as a Mechanical Fitter.
- Participate in and progress through the apprenticeship training plan.
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and scheduled servicing on plant equipment under supervision.
- Maintenance Support:
- Collaborate with qualified Artisans to complete maintenance tasks.
- Assist with daily routine maintenance and equipment breakdowns.
- Support the Fitter during standby duty.
- Compliance:
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Training and Development
- Structured Training:
- Attend 60 days of formal training per year at the Shukela Training Centre.
- Maintain a comprehensive training logbook.
- Participate in assessments and adhere to workplace instructions.
- Growth Opportunities:
- Gain practical experience in a chemical environment under qualified mentorship.
