The Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality (TMDM) invites eligible South African students to submit applications for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2025.
Bursary application closing date is 8 February 2025.
The Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality (TMDM) Bursary Programme is offering funding to students residing within the Thabo Mofutsanyana area in the Free State. This external bursary aims to support disadvantaged students pursuing studies in critical skills fields, such as:
- Agriculture
- Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- Community Water Services and Sanitation (BSc)
- Disaster Management
- Environmental and Water Science (BSc)
- Geography Information Science
- Human Resources
- Public Administration/ Admin (Bachelor’s Degree)
- Tourism
- Town and Regional Planning
- Water and Science Technology (National Diploma)
- Water Resource Management (BSc)
- Other related fields
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age between 16 and 35 years old
- Reside within the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality (Free State)
- Have completed Matric
- Plan to study in one of the listed fields in 2025
- Intend to study at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa
- Be in financial need
- Demonstrate strong academic ability
- Preference will be given to first-time undergraduates in 2025
- Priority will be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Students living with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Application Process:
Applicants must download and complete the TMDM Bursary Application Form 2025 available at: TMDM Bursary Form. Forms can also be collected at TMDM offices and local municipalities: Dihlabeng, Maluti A Phofung, Mantsopa, Nketoana, Phumelela, and Setsoto.
Along with the completed application form, applicants must submit the following documentation:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Matric certificate
- Latest academic record (if currently studying)
- Proof of enrollment or acceptance into a tertiary institution
- Proof of residence from a Ward Councilor
- Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips or affidavit if unemployed, proof of SASSA grant/pension if applicable)
- Parents’ or guardians’ death certificate (if applicable)
- Affidavit if both parents are absent
- Proof of disability (doctor’s medical note if applicable)
- Motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary
