Hessequa Local Municipality invites eligible South African students to submit applications for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2025.
Bursary application closing date is 13 February 2025.
The Hessequa Municipality is offering bursaries for students residing within the Hessequa Municipal area (Western Cape) who are pursuing degree studies in the following fields:
- Accounting
- Civil Engineering
- Economics
- Electrical Engineering
- Finance
- Information Communication Technology (ICT)
- Infrastructure
- Internal Audit
- Risk Management
- Supply Chain Management

Bursary Coverage & Selection Process
The Hessequa Municipality Bursary offers a stipend to cover meals, accommodation, and transport costs. The bursary is awarded for one year and includes:
- Theoretical training at an accredited institution.
- Practical work experience in Riversdale.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you do not receive feedback within 30 working days after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Hessequa Municipality Bursary 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Reside within the Hessequa Municipal area (Western Cape).
- Be between 18 and 23 years old.
- Have completed Matric.
- Be studying or intending to study towards one of the approved qualifications.
- Be registered at an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Have a strong academic record.
- Not be receiving another bursary or NSFAS funding.
- Be financially in need.
- Have a desire to uplift and improve the community.
- Students with disabilities and those from historically disadvantaged groups are encouraged to apply.

Step 2: Prepare Your Supporting Documents
Applicants must submit clear certified copies of the following documents (certifications must not be older than three months):
- ID document (certified copy).
- Matric certificate.
- Proof of qualification/latest examination results.
- Proof of tertiary registration (on institution’s letterhead).
- Proof of residential address (recent municipal account).
- Parents/guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, etc.).
- Comprehensive CV.
- Proof of disability (if applicable – a letter from a medical doctor confirming permanent disability).
