Air Liquide is seeking a dedicated Logistics Intern to join their team in Pretoria at PG Logistics. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their logistics expertise in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for organizing transportation activities and managing the flow of information from point of origin to delivery. You will have the opportunity to evaluate and review transportation arrangements continuously, identifying opportunities to improve processes and ensure timely, safe, and secure product delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation Optimization: Identify cost-effective transportation procedures to optimize cylinder distribution and prepare status reports for performance enhancement.
- Collaboration: Work with a team of planners, drivers, and local customer support to ensure high levels of customer service while optimizing costs.
- Logistics Planning: Plan logistics for cylinders and hard goods across all depots and hubs in the region, maintaining a focus on safety, health, and environmental compliance.
- Delivery Management: Manage daily planning for primary and secondary deliveries, ensuring effective communication with depots for stock management.
- Transporter Performance: Recommend efficient transportation procedures, report on transporter performance, and track key metrics.
- Cylinder Handling: Ensure safe handling of cylinders in compliance with IMS requirements and execute logistics plans for timely delivery.
- Subcontractor Management: Oversee the daily operations of transport subcontractors, manage trip reconciliations, vehicle maintenance, and cost validation, ensuring all delivery documentation is properly handled.

To succeed in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
Educational Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Industrial Engineering
- Matric Certificate
Experience:
- 3 years of road transportation experience
- 3 years in distribution management
- 2 years of supervisory experience
- Inventory management experience
Knowledge & Skills:
- Familiarity with the Navision system
- Understanding of supply chain management, logistics, route planning, and tracking
- Knowledge of cylinder specifications and products
- Experience with logistics systems and work planning
