Programme Overview
The CATHSSETA Internship Programme offers a unique platform for young professionals to develop their skills while contributing to meaningful work in areas such as public administration, project management, communications, and more. As part of the programme, interns will be placed at CATHSSETA’s Head Office in Noordwyk, Midrand, where they will work closely with the respective units and departments. The internship roles are open to individuals with a variety of qualifications, including National Diplomas, Bachelor’s Degrees, B-Tech Degrees, and Honour’s Degrees in related fields.
Interns will be exposed to key areas of operation at CATHSSETA and gain insight into the practical implementation of policies and projects. They will also develop a deeper understanding of the processes that support the cultural, tourism, and sports sectors of South Africa.

- Education and Training Quality Assurance Intern
- Field of Study: National Diploma in Public Administration/ Business Administration/ Project Management
- Key Responsibilities: Interns will support the Education and Training Quality Assurance Unit by ensuring that CATHSSETA’s requirements are met, focusing on quality assurance functions as delegated by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations.

- Grants Intern – Discretionary and Mandatory Grants Unit
- Field of Study: National Diploma in Public Administration/ Business Administration/ Project Management
- Key Responsibilities: This internship provides an excellent learning opportunity in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of various learning programmes. Interns will be involved in managing and processing grants, ensuring compliance, and generating reports.

- Communication Intern – Discretionary Grant Unit
- Field of Study: Diploma in Communication/ Marketing/ Public Relations
- Key Responsibilities: Interns will assist the communications team by capturing good stories and activities happening in various regions, ensuring these are shared with the broader public through CATHSSETA’s communication channels.

CATHSSETA Internship Benefits
Each intern selected for the programme will receive a monthly stipend of R5,600.00. This stipend is aimed at helping cover living expenses during the internship period. However, it is important to note that there is no guarantee of permanent employment after the internship term. Interns are encouraged to use this opportunity to build their professional networks, acquire valuable skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the sector they are working in.
