The eDumbe Local Municipality, located in Paulpietersburg, KwaZulu-Natal, has announced five (5) Financial Internship opportunities in the Finance Department. These internships are offered on a fixed two-year contract, providing hands-on experience in municipal finance operations.
This programme targets unemployed graduates who meet the requirements and wish to grow professionally within the public service sector. With an all-inclusive annual stipend of R115,000, this opportunity provides both financial support and valuable experience.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Grade 12 with Accountancy as a subject.
- A National Certificate in Accounting, a 3-year BCom Degree, or a National Diploma in Financial Management (NQF Level 6).
- Basic computer literacy with good communication and analytical skills.
- Must be an unemployed graduate between the ages of 18 and 35.
- No previous work experience is required.
- Interns will work closely under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer.
- Preference will be given to applicants from the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will support the Finance Department in a variety of tasks, including:
- Implementing GAMAP/GRAP and managing Budget Returns.
- Managing VAT processes.
- Preparing monthly and annual financial statements.
- Conducting financial and performance reporting.
- Assisting with change risk management and project management duties.
- Managing expenditure and revenue.
- Assisting with supply chain and procurement processes.
- Ensuring compliance with MFMA and other financial legislation.
- Helping develop and implement financial and budget policies.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
