Amazon Web Services invites South African students to apply for the AWS Skills Development Bursary Programme 2026

Location: South Africa (for studies at selected universities)
Amazon Web Services (AWS), through its Skills Development Bursary Programme, is offering full-cost bursaries to high-achieving and financially needy students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in fields related to technology, business, commerce, and engineering. The bursary places strong emphasis on supporting students living with disabilities.
Fields of Study Covered
Undergraduate degrees:
- Computer Science / Information Technology
- Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil)
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Finance)
- Bachelor of Education (specialising in Maths and Science)
Postgraduate degrees:
- Honours / Postgraduate Diploma / Master’s in:
- Computer Science / Engineering / IT
- Commerce (Accounting, Finance)
- Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil)
Students with disabilities:
- All undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes
Bursary Inclusions
The AWS Skills Development Bursary covers (capped):
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation (residence or private)
- Subsistence
- Stationery and textbooks
- Personal computer
Who Should Apply?
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Demonstrate strong academic and leadership potential
- Grade 12 learners: Minimum 65% in Mathematics and 65% in English (HL or FAL)
- University students: Overall average above 65%
- Must be accepted or registered at a recognised South African university
