Investec invites High School learners to apply for the 2025 bursaries.

Investec is involved in initiatives that support learners from township and rural schools, who show good academic potential, particularly in the fields of Mathematics and Physical Science. Our high school bursaries programme focuses only on Grades 10-12.

Selection Criteria

  • We only offer bursaries to learners who will be in Grades 10, 11 or 12 in 2025.
  • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Selections are based on financial need and academic potential.
  • Applicants eligible for our bursary must display excellent results in the fields of Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting and English.
  • Applicants should have achieved at least 70% in all their subjects with a minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 70% in English.
  • Applicants must, by year-end, have been enrolled at their current school for at least 1 year.
  • This bursary will not move learners to new schools but will support them in their existing schools.

Criteria for the school

The school should have a good performance track record, meaning:

  • The school should have a minimum of 75% of their learners taking Pure Mathematics
  • 90% matric pass rate (minimum) with 80% university entrance qualification
  • 75% of learners should get 50% or above in Pure Mathematics
  • A good English pass rate with at least 80% of learners obtaining above 50%.
  • The school must display a holistic supportive environment for learners.

Application Procedure

Applications will only be considered if completed and if all the supporting documents have been included.

Documents that accompany the application form must be certified (see checklist below)

  • Certified South African ID/birth certificate
  • 2023 June and final results
  • June results from 2024 (Grade 9, 10 or 11)
  • Certificates of achievements at school
  • Pay slips for your parent(s)/guardian if employed or letter from employer and sworn statement or tax return statement stating income.
  • Latest financial statements if your parent(s)/guardian is/are self-employed.
  • Sworn affidavits if your parent(s)/guardian is/are unemployed.
  • Death certificates if your parent(s) is/are deceased.
  • Divorce certificate if your parents are divorced.
  • Sworn statement from one parent if your parents are separated.
  • A copy of your CV

Note: Changing schools to attend another school that does not meet our requirements may lead to the cancellation of the bursary.
