Position Purpose

The internship offers exposure to various facets of workplace psychology, including:

  • Talent Acquisition & Talent Management
  • Change Management & Employee Wellness
  • Research & Psychometric Assessments
  • Employee Relations under supervision of a licensed IOP
  • Compliance with HPCSA guidelines

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, you will:

  • Build professional relationships across departments.
  • Assist in talent projects such as talent identification, succession planning, and coaching.
  • Contribute to Organizational Development projects for optimal effectiveness.
  • Assist in designing and implementing climate surveys and proposing interventions.
  • Conduct job analysis and align job descriptions to the competency framework.
  • Support recruitment and People Business Partners.
  • Assist with employee engagement and wellness programs.
  • Participate in research projects and assessment-related services.
  • Observe and support Employee Relations (ER) processes, including disciplinary hearings and labor court visits.
  • Conduct career counseling and draft educational workshops on topics like financial literacy and workplace conduct.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Completed M.A./M. Com in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Dissertation completed and submitted for examination.
  • Registered as an IOP Student Intern with the HPCSA.
  • Must have a university-appointed supervisor for academic guidance during the internship.
  • Knowledge of HPCSA Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Familiarity with psychometric properties and assessments.
  • Understanding of relevant legislative frameworks in psychological practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
