About the ECIC ICT Graduate Trainee Programme
The Export Credit Insurance Corporation of South Africa SOC Limited (ECIC) is offering a Graduate Trainee opportunity within its Information and Communication Technology unit.
This internship gives graduates an opportunity to gain relevant workplace experience in a corporate environment while assisting with desktop support, local area network support and general ICT operations.
Successful applicants will support ECIC users and help ensure continued system availability across the organisation.

Purpose of the Programme
The purpose of the programme is to provide ICT graduates with practical exposure in a professional corporate environment.
The trainee will assist with supporting ECIC users, maintaining ICT systems and contributing to the smooth running of desktop, network and system-related services.
Responsibilities and Exposure
The successful graduate trainee will assist with:
- Serving as the first point of contact for users of IT-supported systems, applications and services
- Administering, maintaining, servicing and supporting approximately 90 end users
- Hardware setup and support
- Monitoring and updating computer equipment inventory
- Supporting PCs, printers, wireless networks, switches and cabling
- Software installation and support
- Supporting Windows 11 and Windows Server environments
- Supporting Office 365 productivity and collaboration tools
- Supporting SharePoint, Active Directory and other business applications
- Administering and maintaining company email and internet facilities
- Ensuring adequate backups are kept for critical data
- Maintaining anti-virus control procedures
- Ensuring virus definition updates are downloaded and installed on desktops
- Administering new equipment or peripherals, including quotes, orders and invoices
- Recording and escalating IT service interruptions
- Assisting with ICT projects
- Providing weekly ICT reports on incidents and problem management
- Providing basic end-user training on technology used within ECIC
- Assisting with ICT-related administrative duties
- Participating in ICT activities conducted after hours, such as disaster recovery testing and major system changes
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have at least one of the following:
- Diploma in Information Technology
- MCSE or equivalent qualification
- A+ certification
- N+ certification
An ITIL Foundation Certificate will be preferred but is not essential.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Applicants should have:
- Good technical understanding of supporting and maintaining workstations
- Good technical understanding of maintaining networks in a Microsoft Windows environment
- Understanding of network architecture, including OSI models and protocols
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to take initiative
- Ability to work under pressure
- Troubleshooting skills
- Problem-solving ability
