The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is inviting suitably qualified applicants to apply for the position of Driver: Cleaning Services at the Bloemfontein Regional Office. This permanent government position is ideal for candidates with a valid driver’s licence and experience transporting staff, materials and equipment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

-Grade 10 certificate or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA.

-A valid driver’s licence.

-Professional Driving Permit (PDP) will be an added advantage.

-Basic computer literacy.

-Minimum Information Security Standard (MISS) knowledge.

-Basic numeracy skills.

-Knowledge of the National Road Traffic Act and related regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Transporting work teams, materials and equipment.
  • Picking up and dropping off employees as required.
  • Delivering departmental officials, clients and visitors safely to various destinations.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading of materials and equipment.
  • Ensuring vehicles are not overloaded.
  • Completing vehicle logbooks and trip authorisation documentation.
  • Following approved schedules to ensure timely transportation.
  • Maintaining accurate transport schedules and trip records.
  • Conducting daily vehicle inspections before each shift.
  • Ensuring vehicles are clean, roadworthy and properly maintained.
  • Reporting vehicle defects, accidents, injuries and damages immediately.
  • Operating departmental vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation and departmental policies.
  • Monitoring vehicle fuel usage and maintenance records.
