Competition Commission: Workplace Experiential Learning – Internships

Internship Overview
The Commission invites applications from high-achieving learners in their final year of study, with no prior work experience in their field, to join the second intake of its 2026 Internship Programme for a period of six (6) months. This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in your field of study while fulfilling the workplace experiential learning requirements of your academic programme.
Upon successful completion of the programme, learners will receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation from their assigned coach.

Fields of study
This intake is open to learners in their final year of study who require workplace experience to complete a qualification in one of the following fields:
- Human Capital
- Information Technology
- Law
- Economics
- Finance
- Supply Chain Management
- Communications
Requirements:
- Must be a South African Citizen.
- Must have no prior work experience in the same field.
- Must be in the final year of theoretical study and require practical workplace experience to complete the requirements of their qualification (i.e. the internship must form part of their academic curriculum).
- Must have a strong academic record (An average of 70% or above will be an added advantage)
- Must provide evidence of notable academic or extracurricular achievements.
- Must demonstrate proactive involvement in initiatives or community service beyond academic coursework, reflecting a commitment to public interest and societal impact.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must demonstrate sound analytical, research and investigative skills.
