01

Who we are

Lloyd Media Lab (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs lloydmedialab.co.za, a free South African platform that shares internships, bursaries, learnerships and entry-level jobs.

We are the “responsible party” for the personal information collected on this website under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

02

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use our contact form, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your message and anything you choose to include in it

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, some information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, including:

  • Your IP address and approximate location (city or region)
  • Your device type, browser and operating system
  • The pages you visit, how long you stay, and the site that referred you

We do not ask for your ID number, banking details or CV. If anyone claiming to be Lloyd Media Lab asks for these, it is a scam.

How we use your information

  • To reply to your messages and questions

  • To understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
  • To show advertising, which keeps the platform free
  • To protect the website from spam, fraud and abuse
  • To meet our legal obligations

We only process your information for these purposes, with your consent, or where we have a legitimate interest or legal duty to do so.

04

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners use them to:

  • Make the site work, such as remembering basic settings
  • Measure traffic and see which pages are popular
  • Show and measure ads, including ads based on your interests

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

05

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads on our website. This is how we keep Lloyd Media Lab free.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
06

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) and Jetpack to understand how visitors use our website, such as which pages are popular and how people find us. This information is grouped and does not identify you personally.

You can stop Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

07

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with:

  • Service providers that help us run the site, such as our web host, Google (ads and analytics) and Automattic (Jetpack)
  • Authorities, if the law requires it or to protect our rights and users

Some of these providers store data on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on providers that offer an adequate level of protection, as POPIA requires.

Our WhatsApp channel is run on WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta. Following the channel is governed by WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.

As channel admins, we cannot see your phone number or profile when you follow the channel.

We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, after which we delete them.

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including a secure (HTTPS) connection, security plugins and regular backups. No website is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
