What the Bursary Covers
The IDC Bursary will cover the following expenses:
- Full tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Transport allowance
- Once-off laptop allowance
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be 26 years old or younger
- Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Be studying or intending to study full-time towards a first undergraduate qualification
- Have a minimum of 75% APS (Matric) or 65% APS (Tertiary students)
- Be unemployed
- Have a combined household income of NOT more than R600 000 per annum
- Have an excellent academic record and demonstrate financial need
- Be enrolled or accepted at a public tertiary institution
Postgraduate funding is only available for:
- Finance
- Accounting
- Law
Preference will be given to:
- Students with disabilities
- Students from Quintile 1–3 schools
- Students from rural or previously disadvantaged communities

- ID document
- Grade 11 final & Matric June results (if currently in Matric)
- Matric certificate (if already completed)
- Most recent academic results (if in tertiary)
- Proof of acceptance/admission
- Parents/guardians’ ID copies
- Unabridged birth certificate (if surnames differ)
- Proof of household income (e.g. payslips, affidavits, bank statements, SASSA letters, death/divorce certificates)
