Transnet is recruiting recently qualified Diesel Mechanics through its Work Integrated Technical Learner (WITL) Programme 2026/2027. The programme gives recently qualified apprentices with a Red Seal practical work experience, hands-on training, mentorship and exposure to industry-specific tasks over 24 months.

Minimum Requirements
- Diesel Mechanic trade tested within the past four years
- Youth between 18 and 35 years old
- Less than one year of work experience
- South African citizen
Key Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition
- Document work performed and report to supervisors
Competencies
- Beginner: basic understanding of tools and safety procedures
- Intermediate: ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision
- Advanced: expert-level skills, capable of supervising and training others
