About Joburg City Theatres Internships 2026

Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is inviting unemployed graduates and students from Johannesburg communities to apply for the 2026 Internship Programme.

The programme is designed to provide workplace exposure to young South Africans who need practical experience to complete their qualifications or gain post-study experiential training.

Successful applicants will be placed at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani for a period not exceeding 24 months.

1. Marketing and Public Relations Intern

Department: Client Services
Position: Internship: Marketing and Public Relations

Minimum Requirements for Marketing and Public Relations Intern

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric or N3 Certificate
  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or Media Studies

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

The successful Marketing and Public Relations Intern will gain practical experience in:

Performance Expectations

During the internship, the intern may be expected to:

  • Produce at least ten social media posts each week
  • Assist in producing two press releases each month under supervision
  • Participate in at least three promotional events every quarter
  • Prepare weekly media monitoring reports
  • Maintain accurate stakeholder and media databases
  • Demonstrate creativity, teamwork and professionalism

2. Building and Security Intern

Position: Building and Security Intern

Location: Soweto Theatre, Jabulani
Monthly Stipend: R6 094

Minimum Requirements for Building and Security Intern

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric or N3 Certificate
  • National Diploma or Degree in Engineering Studies or a related qualification

Purpose of the Building and Security Internship

The Building and Security Internship provides practical workplace experience within the Building and Facilities Department.

The successful intern will assist with maintenance operations, building inspections, safety compliance, contractor coordination, repairs and facilities management activities within a theatre environment.

General Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Reside within Johannesburg communities
  • Meet the minimum qualification requirements for the advertised position
  • Have not previously participated in an internship programme, unless the previous internship was unrelated to the current field of study
  • Submit all required supporting documents before the closing date

Certified documents must not be older than three months.
