Senior IT Officer (1 Year Fixed-term contract, with possibility of permanent)

The Legal Practice Council (LPC) is currently embarking on a process to fill vacant positions in the National Office.
Vacancy : Senior IT Officer (1 Year Fixed-term contract, with possibility of permanent)
Provincial Office : Gauteng (Midrand-National Office): Ref No: NO02/2025
CTC Salary Package : R54 833,66 p.m.

 

Minimum Appointment Requirements
Matric/Grade 12 Certificate; ▪ NQF Level 5 in IT or Computer Science ; ▪ Microsoft Certification ; ▪ SQL Certification (SSRS, SSMS) ; ▪ Driver’s License ; ▪ 10+ years IT support and database administration experience ; ▪ NQF Level 6 in IT or Computer Science is an advantage; ▪ Expertise in FortiGate firewalls, IPSEC/SSL VPNs ; ▪ Strong cyber security knowledge and implementation ; ▪ Advanced Office 365 Administration (Intune, Azure AD, Phishing Simulations) ; ▪ Network environments (WAN, LAN, VLAN, VPN, subnetting) ; ▪ Server Administration and Security, including Hyper-V ; ▪ Experience managing
endpoint protection solutions ; ▪ Proven ability to lead IT projects, identify new solutions, and manage system implementations.

 

Skills & Competencies

Key Responsibilities
Manage FortiGate firewalls, configure and troubleshoot IPSEC/SSL VPNs ; ▪ Implement and maintain cyber security measures, risk assessment, and security policies ; ▪ Administration of Office 365, including Intune device management, Azure AD security policies, and phishing simulation campaigns ▪ SQL Server management (SSRS, SSMS, database performance tuning, security, and reporting) ; ▪ Provide escalated IT support and mentor junior IT staff ; ▪ Maintain IT infrastructure, troubleshoot software/hardware issues, and manage network security ▪ Conduct system and data backups, ensure business continuity ; ▪ Manage user accounts, configure access control, and monitor security threats ; ▪ Administer and maintain Hyper-V virtualized environments ; ▪ Configure and manage network infrastructure including VLANs and subnetting ; ▪ Oversee endpoint protection systems and ensure compliance with security policies ; ▪ Lead IT projects, identify new technologies, and oversee system development and implementation.

Matric/Grade 12 Certificate; ▪ National Diploma in Information Technology ; ▪ 5+ years IT support experience ; ▪ Microsoft Certification ; ▪ Driver’s License ; ▪ Database administration and maintenance ; ▪ Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues ; ▪ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products ; ▪ Telecommunication systems ; ▪ Access control and CCTV systems ; ▪ Server administration and virtualization ; ▪ Office 365 Administration ; ▪ Active Directory (AD) and Azure AD
administration ; ▪ Adobe Acrobat (professional version and its tools) ; ▪ Financial and payroll systems (Sage, ERP, VIP Payroll).

Key Responsibilities
Receive and prioritise end-user support calls and requests ; ▪ Troubleshoot problems with remote and local users and visit user sites to diagnose and resolve application and operating system-related issues ; ▪ Provide guidance to new users on startup/log-on procedures and software tools ; ▪ Create user accounts and configure permissions and security ; ▪ Provide technical support on operating systems and software applications ; ▪ Diagnose software-related problems ; ▪ Install, configure, and test applicable software and hardware ▪ Perform upgrades and repairs to software and hardware ; ▪ Liaise with vendors on
hardware failures ; ▪ Provide in-depth training to end-users to enhance their technical knowledge ; ▪ Install, configure, and maintain servers, wireless networks, and telecom systems ; ▪ Configure and maintain Office 365, including user access and security policies.
