Internship Overview

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering Internship opportunities to suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. The Interships will run for a a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months. Interns will be required to sign an internship agreement, in additional to an employment contract, committing themselves to full participation in the educational and workplace assignments in accordance with laid-down policies and procedures.

Stipend: R10 109,86 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits)

Duration: 18 months contract

Internship: Food Value Chain

Department: Social Development

Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Agriculture Studies / Development Studies or equivalent;

Duties: Implement activities that increase smallholder agricultural production and market linkage. Identify and establish food / agricultural value chain opportunities within the City. Execute food value chain implementation plans that assist farmers with market. Coordinate and collaborate with local partners. Plan and support agricultural market days in the regions. Stakeholder management with Farmers / agro-processors. Perform administrative work for the programs.

Monitoring and evaluation. Knowledge of food security, agricultural production and project management. Knowledge of agricultural systems to support emerging farmers. Knowledge of agricultural markets and market research skills.

Internship: Women and Elderly

Department: Social Development

Requirements: Degree in Social Sciences / Developmental Studies / Gender Studies

Duties: Plan and manage the implementation of Women and Elderly Programmes and Projects. General support functions to ensure that effective support is given to managers to manage the unit’s productivity. Liaise, network and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure integrated service delivery and coordination as per relevant CoJ policies and procedures. Facilitate budget planning and implementation of programmes/projects in line with Social Development business plan, CoJ financial policies and procedures and the MFMA.

Knowledge and Skills: Computer literacy (MS Office). Communication skills. Presentation skills. Project Management skills. Good leadership background. Knowledge of Management and implementation of women and elderly programmes/projects. Knowledge of local government, policies and procedures
