Bursary Award Details:
- The bursary covers only a small portion of tertiary expenses, so students must secure additional funding for the remaining balance.
- Funding is renewable each year based on academic performance.
- Progress reports are required annually by 14 February until the completion of studies.
- Feedback on successful applications will be provided by April 2025.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- DENOSA Membership: Must be a fully paid-up member of DENOSA for at least 2 years before applying and remain a paid-up member throughout the study period.
- Nursing/Midwifery Registration: Must be a registered nurse and/or midwife.
- Post-basic Work Experience: Must have undertaken a certain amount of approved post-basic work.
- Course Enrollment: Must be accepted into a nursing course (for the 2025 academic year) at an accredited institution.
- Post-basic Undergraduate Courses: Must be studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and have passed at least half of the program.
- Post-basic Diploma Courses: Must have passed at least half of the program, if the diploma is longer than 1 year.
- Short Courses: Must be listed with the South African Nursing Council (SANC), or applicants need to explain how the course will improve their nursing practice.
- Bridging Courses: Must have completed the first year of study.
