Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will help maintain a clean, hygienic and safe environment for patients, employees and visitors at Weskoppies Hospital.

Key responsibilities will include cleaning and maintaining:

• Floors
• Walls
• Windows
• Doors
• Furniture
• Lockers
• Beds
• Curtains
• Blinds
• Wards
• Departmental areas
• Corridors
• Entrances and surrounding areas

Cleaners will also be responsible for removing litter and ensuring designated areas remain clean throughout their shifts.

Waste Management

Successful candidates will remove and dispose of waste according to hospital waste-management procedures as well as infection prevention and control standards.

Cleaners must ensure that waste is handled and disposed of safely to reduce health and safety risks within the hospital.

Kitchen and Equipment Cleaning

Cleaners may also be required to clean staff and Mental Health Care User kitchen areas.

This may include cleaning:

• Refrigerators
• Microwave ovens
• Kitchen surfaces
• Other designated equipment

Successful candidates may also wash dishes, cups and utensils in wards and other assigned areas.

Cleaning Materials and Chemicals

Replenishing Cleaning Consumables

Reporting Maintenance Problems
