The Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC) invites suitably qualified unemployed graduates to apply for its Internship Programme 2025/26–2026/27. A 24-month opportunity is currently open in the field of Archives and Records Management at the Mthatha Repository, specifically targeting candidates passionate about document digitization.

Internship Overview
This internship opportunity is part of the Eastern Cape Government’s plan to address youth unemployment by providing workplace exposure to graduates. Interns will benefit from on-the-job training designed to improve professional skills and future employability. Candidates may not be part of any other internship or developmental programme.
Minimum Requirements
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Archives & Records Management or a related qualification
- History as a major subject is advantageous
Key Duties
- Evaluate collections and arrange items in logical order (repository, series, file unit, item level)
- Classify and label materials for easier access
- Create and maintain comprehensive lists and metadata for collections
- Prepare, scan, and digitize physical documents at high resolution
- Conduct quality assurance on digital images
- Develop finding aids and tools to support archival access and usability
