Eskom invites young, unemployed South Africans to apply for its Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme 2026, a 12-month work experience opportunity aimed at empowering youth and addressing the national unemployment challenge.

About the Eskom YES Programme
The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a joint initiative between the South African government and the private sector, launched by the Presidency to tackle youth unemployment. Eskom, as part of this initiative, is offering qualifying youth a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain hands-on work experience in South Africa’s dynamic energy sector.
Successful candidates will be contracted for 12 months and placed across Eskom’s various operational divisions nationwide.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between the ages of 18 to 34 years
- Have a Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
(Post-matric certificates or programmes will be an added advantage)
Additional Criteria
Applicants must not:
- Have been employed permanently by a single employer for more than 1 year
- Be studying full-time during the year of participation
- Have participated in the YES Programme before
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in workplace learning and gain job exposure
- Complete assigned duties within Eskom’s operations
- Comply with Eskom’s codes of conduct and performance standards
