EThekwini Municipality: Internships 2026 / 2027
eThekwini Municipality invites applications from unemployed graduates and students requiring workplace experience to participate in its Internship Programme. The programme provides young professionals with an opportunity to gain meaningful workplace exposure, develop occupational skills, and apply academic knowledge within a dynamic local government environment.
The Internship Programme supports youth development, improves employability, and contributes towards building a skilled workforce capable of supporting effective municipal service delivery.
Duration
Successful candidates will be appointed for:
- Up to 24 months – University graduates
- Up to 18 months – TVET graduates who have completed the required N6 qualification and practical training requirements

Fields of study

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be unemployed South African citizens
- Have a recognized qualification relevant to the advertised opportunity
- Have no prior work experience in the relevant field
- Require workplace exposure or experiential learning
- Be available for the full internship period
- Be willing to comply with programme requirements
- Be able to participate in assessments, training, and workplace activities
