About the Role
We are looking for dedicated and detail-oriented Paint Operators to join our Backshop team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the final preparation of aircraft and parts for paint stripping and painting. You will be responsible for ensuring that all surfaces are perfectly prepped to meet our high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Prepare aircraft and parts using hand tools and pneumatic machinery (Orbital Sanders) for paint application or removal.
- Masking & Sealing: Apply and remove masking tape and assist with sealant activities, including cleaning lap joints.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and sign all relevant labour reporting and movement documentation.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper cleaning of work areas and equipment.
- Material Handling: Assist with the control and movement of spares, equipment, and materials.
- Adherence to Safety: Ensure no parts are placed on the floor without protective material and follow all laid-down procedures.
- Team Support: Assist Paint Technicians, SLTs, and Production Leaders with general preparation tasks as required.
Working Conditions
- Must be comfortable working at various heights.
- Must be willing to work with a variety of chemicals, thinners, and solvents.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or Equivalent (NQF Level 4).
- Literacy: Computer Literate.
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of SAA Technical Organisation processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (Verbal and Written).
- Awareness of hazardous materials and chemicals.
