Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a specialist surgeon and proof of current registration required. Must be willing to work in the field of bariatric surgery as well as acute surgical care. The following will serve as an added advantage – surgical experience and publications in the field of bariatric surgery.

Duties :

  • Clinical history taking, examination, and assessment of patients. Requesting and analyzing special investigations. Perform any other duties relevant to the clinical management of surgical patients. Performance of overtime duties. Training and teaching of postgraduate and undergraduate students, review of current literature and research, attend appropriate CME updates. Duties :

  • The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, participating in departmental audit activities, preparing, and writing of reports, liaison and communication services and community liaison. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors). Willing to do commuted overtime rendering of after-hour (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Doing forensic psychiatric observations and testifying in a court of law will be also included, if needed.
