Boland TVET College is inviting suitable candidates to apply for the position of Human Resources Clerk (SL.5) on a fixed-term contract. This position is based at the Paarl Campus and offers an opportunity to contribute to the college’s human resources operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in recruitment, performance management, and other administrative duties within the HR department.

Human Resources Clerk Position Details

  • Contract Duration: 1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026 or until the permanent incumbent returns, whichever comes first
  • Remuneration: R18 034.75 per month plus 37% in lieu of benefits

Key Requirements

To be considered for the position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 certificate.
  • A minimum of one to two years of experience working in a human resources or administrative environment.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • A good understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service.
  • Strong verbal communication and administrative skills.
  • valid driver’s license.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Human Resources Clerk will be responsible for various HR-related functions, including but not limited to:

1. Recruitment and Selection

  • Handling advertisements, appointments, transfers, and verification of qualifications.
  • Performing secretariat functions for interview panels.
  • Managing processes related to absorptions and probationary periods.

2. Implementation of Conditions of Service

  • Overseeing employee-related benefits such as leave, housing, medical aid, injury on duty, long service recognition, overtime, relocation, pension, and allowances.
  • Ensuring compliance with PILIR (Policy on Incapacity Leave and Ill-Health Retirement).

3. Performance Management

  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of the Performance Management and Development System (PMDS).

4. Registry Duties

  • Managing HR documentation and records to ensure proper filing and retrieval.

5. Termination of Services

  • Processing resignations, retirements, and other forms of service termination in accordance with legal and institutional guidelines.

Additional Recommendations

Although not mandatory, the following qualifications and experiences will be advantageous:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages (multilingualism).
  • Knowledge or experience with HR Information Systems such as PERSAL or SAGE 300 People.
  • Prior experience within the TVET sector.
