Requirements

- Adult Education and Training (AET/ABET) Level 3 or equivalent (Grade 7) is required.
- No experience is required.
- A basic understanding of policies such as Batho Pele Principles, Patients Rights Charter, Occupational Health and Safety, Six Priorities, and National Core Standards is necessary.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and basic knowledge of the health systems is expected.
- Good listening skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, observation skills, and organizational skills are essential.
- The ability to work independently and harmoniously within a team is required.
- The ability to act with tact and discretion is necessary.
- The applicant must be self-motivated.
- The ability to work under pressure is essential.
- Knowledge of Labour Relations processes is required.
- The ability to handle tasks of a multidisciplinary nature is necessary.
- The applicant must be prepared to work shifts, which include fixed shifts, after-hours, night duty, weekends, and public holidays.
- The ability to operate cleaning equipment and machines is required.
Responsibilities
- Here are the duties in plain sentence form (without bullets):
- Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, and buffing with cleaning machines.
- Clean walls, windows, doors and window frames, bathrooms, showers and lockers, and dust, wash, and polish furniture.
- Clean corridors, public toilets, offices, clinics, entrances, stairs, fire escapes, side walls, lifts, passages, waiting areas, equipment, and carpets.
- Remove medical and general waste, clean bins, and flatten cardboard boxes.
- Adhere to the health care waste management policy and infection control prescripts.
- Operate heavy duty cleaning machines.
- Provide a clean and hygienic environment.
- Handle and store linen, defrost and clean unit refrigerators, and refill soap containers.
- Remove food leftovers when necessary.
- Care for and clean unit kitchens, control stock in the kitchen, and report to the supervisor.
- Keep trolleys clean.
- Control stock in the kitchen and bathroom.
- Sort and seal contaminated linen.
- Complete daily work activities on the cleaning control list.
- Adhere to all cleaning service policies and procedures.
- Adhere to timelines.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Perform other duties as allocated by the supervisor.
- Be willing to undergo continuous training and development programs.
- Attend meetings and training as approved by the supervisor.
- Comply with the Performance Management and Development System, including contracting, quarterly reviews, and final assessment.
