About the IDC Graduate Internship Programme 2026/2027

The IDC Graduate Internship Programme provides qualified unemployed graduates with 24 months of structured and supervised workplace exposure. Pasted text

The programme aims to:

  • Give unemployed graduates opportunities to develop workplace competencies;
  • Allow graduates to apply knowledge gained at institutions of higher learning;
  • Expose participants to different professional career paths;
  • Help graduates establish professional networks;
  • Develop a talent pipeline for IDC business areas and sectors; and

Graduate Internship Streams

The available qualifications are divided into two main streams:

  • PICC
  • IZP

Applicants should identify which stream corresponds with their completed qualification. Pasted text

PICC Graduate Internship Fields

Graduates applying under the PICC component may hold a National Diploma, Degree or Honours qualification, depending on the field. Pasted text

Eligible Built Environment fields include:

  • Architecture;
  • Construction Engineering;
  • Civil Engineering;
  • Bachelor of Geomatics / Land Surveying;
  • Urban and Regional Planning; and
  • Quantity Surveying.

Finance, Economics and Development Fields

The PICC stream also accepts relevant qualifications in:

  • Development Finance;
  • Finance;
  • Accountancy;
  • Economics; and

The IZP component targets graduates with a National Diploma, Degree or Honours qualification in:

  • Civil Engineering;
  • Quantity Surveying; and

Depending on the applicant’s discipline, relevant technical and professional knowledge may include:

  • Microsoft Excel;
  • Microsoft Word;
  • Microsoft PowerPoint;

  • AutoCAD;
  • WinQS;
  • QSPlus;
  • CostX;
  • Candy/CCS;
  • Bluebeam Revu;
  • Microsoft Project or similar project-scheduling software;

  • Other Civil, Electrical or Structural Engineering software;
  • JBCC;
