Requirements
To qualify for these positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Senior Certificate
- Driver’s License: Minimum Code B
- Additional Qualification: Basic Traffic Officers Diploma
- Experience: At least one year of practical experience in law enforcement
- Criminal Record: Must possess no criminal record
Key Skills & Knowledge Required
- Understanding of road traffic and public transport legislation
- Knowledge of vehicle inspections and impoundment
- Completion of law enforcement documents
- Firearm and Ammunition Act knowledge
- Code of Conduct and Dangerous Goods regulations
- Operational guidelines on law enforcement equipment
- Customer relationship management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (at least two provincial languages)
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Driving and legal evidential skills
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Enforcing road traffic and transport legislation
- Examining driver’s licenses and motor vehicles
- Monitoring compliance at Driver License Testing Centres (DLTC) and Vehicle Testing Stations (VTS)
- Conducting visible traffic control and crime prevention activities
- Performing administrative and related duties
