As a Marketing Intern for the Maybelline Zone team, you will support the development and execution of brand strategies across the South African market. You will play a key role in bringing our global “New York energy” to local consumers through product launches, digital campaigns, and retail excellence. This is a hands-on role designed to give you a 360-degree view of brand management in a leading multinational.
Key Responsibilities
- Brand Strategy & Execution Support
- Assist in the rollout of integrated marketing plans for major product launches (e.g., Sky High Mascara, SuperStay Franchise).
- Help manage the marketing calendar to ensure all activations are executed on time.
- Support the adaptation of global creative assets for the local SSA context.
- Digital & Social Media Management
- Coordinate with agencies to manage local social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Specially SA and Kenya).
- Monitor community engagement and stay ahead of local beauty trends and viral content.
- Support Influencer Marketing efforts: identifying “Maybelline Babes,” tracking campaign ROI from countries.
- Market Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct regular competitive benchmarking: What are competitors doing in-store and online?
- Analyze market share data (Nielsen/internal tools) to identify growth opportunities.
- Prepare monthly reports on brand performance and campaign results.
- Operational & Retail Excellence
- Manage product samples and marketing collateral for events and PR launches.
- Liaising with the local brand teams and assisting them with any content requests for trade/ POS.
Educational Requirements:
A recently completed or final-year Degree/Diploma in:
- Marketing,
- Business Management,
- Media,
- or a related field.
Technical & Soft Skills:
- Passion for Beauty: A genuine interest in makeup, trends, and the L’Oréal portfolio.
- Digital Native: High proficiency in social media platforms (TikTok/Instagram) and a pulse on Gen-Z culture.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to work with data (Excel) and draw meaningful insights.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Agility: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
