Role Overview

The Recruiting Intern will play a vital role in supporting McKinsey’s recruiting efforts across Africa. Based in either the Johannesburg or Nairobi office, this intern will report directly to the Senior Manager of Recruiting in Africa. The key responsibilities of this role revolve around assisting the recruiting team with logistics, event coordination, data management, and candidate communication, ensuring that McKinsey’s recruiting process runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Recruiting Intern include but are not limited to:

  1. Event Coordination
    The intern will assist recruiters in organizing on-campus and in-office recruiting events. This includes tasks like identifying assessors for interview days, reserving conference rooms, preparing materials, and ensuring all logistics are in place for smooth execution.
  2. Candidate Data Management
    Another critical aspect of the role involves managing candidate data. The intern will maintain accurate and up-to-date application information in the recruiting systems. They will also run reports to track recruitment metrics and help in streamlining the recruitment process.
  3. Communication & Interview Logistics
    As part of the recruitment process, the intern will help communicate interview logistics to candidates and respond to inquiries about the recruitment process. This ensures that candidates are well-informed and prepared for the next steps.
  4. Administrative Support
    The intern will provide general administrative support to the recruitment team. This includes assisting in scheduling team meetings, coordinating the Client Service Professional (CSP) deployment for recruiting events, and other tasks necessary to keep operations running efficiently.
  5. Application Screening
    The intern will assist in the application screening process, ensuring that candidates’ details are thoroughly reviewed and that only the most suitable applicants are moved forward in the selection process.
