SANBI Biological Invasion invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2025 academic year.
Bursary Application Closing Date: 01 November 2024

Bursary Coverage:
- Honours: 1 bursary valued at R60,000 plus fees
- Masters: 3 bursaries valued at R115,000 plus fees
- Doctoral: 4 bursaries valued at R161,000 plus fees
The bursary may cover the cost of registration for part-time studies or other project expenses if aligned with SANBI’s mandate. Funds are paid directly to the student, and academic fees are paid to the host institution.
Note: Masters and Doctoral applicants may be considered for a 1-year project development internship if likely to exceed their study period, after which they must reapply for the bursary.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be registered for a postgraduate degree (Honours, Masters, or Doctoral) in one of the approved research areas
- Must be studying at a recognised university in South Africa
- Enthusiastic and keen to conduct research to improve the understanding and management of biological invasions

- Certified copy of your academic record

- 2 reference letters from academic supervisors
- Statement of support from a prospective academic supervisor
- Statement of support from a SANBI staff member (as a contact or co-supervisor)
- Honours applicants: 1-page project outline
- Masters and Doctoral applicants: 2-page project outline
