    • Completion of the Correctional Science Learnership/Basic Training.
    • Skills in offender counselling, communication, firefighting, and first aid.

  • Key Competencies: Interpersonal relations, tact, crisis management, dog handling expertise.
  • Duties:
    • Patrol prison grounds and control access points.
    • Prevent smuggling, escapes, and unauthorised contact.
    • Guard offenders at work areas to ensure their safety.
    • Search offenders, identify tracks, and assign dogs.
    • Train, feed, and provide veterinary care for service dogs.
    • Ensure daily cleaning of kennels and safe isolation of sick or new dogs.
